After reading “To Converse with the Greats”, I would like to relate the poem to my own experiences. In other words, I would like to unite with it. I believe that the author is trying to say that if you want to truly understand someone, then you will have to experience what they are experiencing first hand. The author uses words like “their” and “them” to emphasize another person. They want us to experience what they are experiencing so that we could truly understand each other. Experience is an extremely important element in life. At home. my father would always finish the housework by himself every day. I have always believed that doing chores was an easy task. However, when I tried doing a fraction of what my father was doing every day, I was unable to handle the tasks. From this, I understood what my father felt as he would cook me dinner or wash the dishes. Through experience, I was able to learn something that words alone would not have been able to fully convey.
